Circling Lake Apopka in Orange and Lake Counties, Connecting to C2C

The Lake Apopka Trail Loop circles Lake Apopka in Central Florida (Orange and Lake Counties). The 47 mile route consists of portions of the West Orange Trail and South Lake Trail, then continuing around the lake on the Hancock Trail, the Lake Apopka Loop Trail (North Shore), and the Lake Apopka Connector Trail. It includes parts of the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail (C2C) and Heart of Florida Loop.

Below we list the Lake Apopka Trail Loop in 5 sections, starting from Clarcona Horse Park on the West Orange Trail, and going clockwise:

• southwest along the West Orange Trail
• west on the South Lake Trail
• north on the Hancock Road Trail
• east on the Lake Apopka Loop Trail (North Shore)
• south along the Lake Apopka Connector Trail

We return to the Clarcona Horse Park on the West Orange Trail.

Lake Apopka Trail Loop

West Orange Trail

West Orange Trail - Orange County - Part of the C2C, this is a 22-mile, world-class rail trail through urban and suburban sections of Orange County. It's part of the Lake Apopka Trail Loop from the Clarcona Horse Park to the South Lake Trail (14 miles).

South Lake Trail

South Lake Trail - Lake County - Runs 12.5 miles as part of the C2C from the West Orange Trail west to Groveland where a gap exists to the Van Fleet State Trail. It's part of the Lake Apopka Trail Loop from the West Orange Trail at Killarney Station to North Hancock Road (5 miles).

Hancock Trail

Hancock Trail - Lake County - 9 miles in Clermont and Minneola, it's part of the Lake Apopka Trail Loop from Old Rte. 50 to the Green Mountain Overlook (6.5 miles).

Lake Apopka Loop Trail (North Shore)

Lake Apopka North Shore Loop Trail - Orange County - Unpaved eco-biking, 18 miles at the Lake Apopka North Shore restoration area.

Lake Apopka Connector Trail

Lake Apopka Connector Trail - Orange County - 4.5 miles from the West Orange Trail near Clarcona Horse Park to the Lake Apopka North Shore Loop Trail just past Magnolia Park.
